Conductors Railroad Lantern

Unmarked frame, fount has a L. Miller burner (see picture of adjusting wheel). This is believed to be a #8 Deitz Conductor's Lantern identified thru "The Illustrated Encyclopedia Of Railroad Lighting", Volume 1, "The Railroad Lantern " page 106.

Most lantern mfg's had variations of the # 3 conductors lantern , the #8 version designates a wire frame base which would not create shadows. Many variations have different ways of attaching the bail to the dome or just changing the top or adding more vent holes, etc. Globe in good condition with name "Pat Carroll" surrounded by wreath etched in glass. Good addition to any collection of an example of a wire frame base.

Note: last picture is taken from a 1898 Deitz Catalog showing what I believe to be a picture of this lantern next to a #3 bell bottom model. You can make up your mind if it matches, I will continue to list as unmarked. The item "CONDUCTORS RAILROAD LANTERN" is in sale since Thursday, March 28, 2019.
