A Large & Rare Sixty One Red Marbles Railroad Crossing Reflector. This rare reflector is 14" high (point to point), 12" wide, 1 1/4 deep (counting the marbles) and weighs in at 8 pounds before packing. This reflector is in overall great condition for it's age (circa 1930's to 1940's). It retains most of it's original yellow paint. It has some tarnish here and there and the two bottom outside edges have some rust. The red marbles show some minor surface wear but only two have chips. One of the chipped marbles has a crack in it but that crack does not rise to the surface.
It's the marble in photo no. 6 that doesn't show a reflection from the camera's flash. The back of the reflector has a couple of dents and shows a good loss of paint with numerous scratches. The bolts that hold the reflector together have been replaced with new ones.
When found, the original bolts were missing. I've seen a lot of old reflectors but never one that looks like this one. I've been informed that this may not have been used as a railroad crossing reflector and may have had some other use.
