MILWAUKEE ROAD CMSTP&P RAILROAD LANTERN Red Etched CMSTP&PRR Globe

Offered is a unique piece of railroad history; a Milwaukee Road railroad lantern with a Red Etched Lantern Globe. The frame is an Adlake 400 Kero and is embossed on the shoulder CMStP&P , which stands for Chicago Milwaukee St.

Paul & Pacific , the corporate name used by the Milwaukee Road after the Pacific Extension was added in 1927. The lantern frame is in excellent condition; nice smooth metal, stands straight, has no holes, major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. The lantern has an Adlake 400 fount and burner (takes a 7/8 wick) which is in working order. The wick easily adjusts up and down as it should and it would hold fuel and burn if desired. This lantern has a manufacture date of 4-56, indicating it was made in the Fourth Quarter of 1956.

As with all late Adlake Keros there is a small factory drain hole in the bottom of the fount holder. The red etched lantern globe is in excellent condition; free of cracks, chips, scratches or cloudiness.

As with any globe that was used in actual railroad service there may be some minor nicks on the top and bottom rims that dont show when the globe is seated in the lantern frame. The Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad as it was known prior to 1927 or the Milwaukee Road , began operations in 1874 and was extended to the Pacific Coast in 1927 and the corporate name changed to Chicago Milwaukee St. The Pacific Coast Extension was abandoned in 1980 and what was left was absorbed by to SOO Line in 1986. The SOO is now a fallen flag as well and is now part of Canadian Pacific.
