Offered is a unique piece of railroad history; a NORTHERN PACIFIC Railroad Lantern with a Clear Etched Lantern Globe. The frame is an Armspear flat vertical, double wire guard, twist off and is embossed on the shoulder of the lid NPRY. The lantern frame is in excellent condition; nice clean metal, stands straight and has no major pitting, extra holes drilled, dents, bent, broken or missing parts. There is an Inventory or Control Number stamped on the shoulder of the lid but it isnt fully legible. It comes a correct Armspear twist off fount and slip style burner with a cast Armspear thumb wheel.It is stamped with 1913 patent dates on the brass fount strap. Fount & burner are fully functional; wick easily adjusts up and down, will hold fuel and burn if desired. The Clear Lantern Globe is etched NPRy and has the CNX Corning Glass logo cast below the top rim. It is in excellent condition; free of chips and cracks. There are some very minor scratches and some light hazing in the glass. There may be the usual small rim nicks from use on the railroad which will not show when the globe is seated in the lantern frame. The Northern Pacific existed from 1872 to 1970 when it became part of Burlington Northern. Burlington Northern was merged with the Santa Fe to become Burlington Northern Santa Fe in 1997.
