Offered is a unique piece of railroad history; a Southern Pacific railroad lantern with a Signal Yellow CNX Lantern Globe. The frame is an Adlake 300 Kero and is embossed on the shoulder SPCo. The lantern frame is in excellent condition, nice smooth metal, stands straight and has no major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. It comes with the correct Adlake 300 fount and burner.
Fount & burner are fully functional; wick easily adjusts up and down, and would hold fuel and burn if desired. A manufacture date of 1-35 is embossed on the bottom, meaning it was made during the First Quarter of 1935 and prior to WW II. The Signal Yellow or sometimes referred to as Amber lantern globe is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks, scratches or cloudiness.
As with any lantern globe that saw railroad service, there may be some roughness on the rims which will not show when the globe is seated in a lantern frame. The Southern Pacific Railroad existed from 1871 until it was taken over by the Union Pacific in 1997.Be sure to view all photographs closely as they are part of the item description.
