Vintage Railroad Adlake Non Sweating Square-Top Caboose Lamp. Wonderful vintage Adlake railroad caboose lantern with the square two piece top vent. That has been electrified to be used as an interior accent lamp. The story I got with this lamp is that it belonged to a retired railroad worker. It came off the caboose that he worked on his entire career and when the caboose was decommissioned sometime in the 1980's he decided to retire himself and was allowed to take the lamp.
The caboose it was on, ran back and forth between San Antonio and south Texas. I'm not certain if this is a repaint or original, but it's probably a repaint because it looks really good for it's age.
There is a few minor chips and or scratches to the paint here and there and does have a little surface rust in a few places, but considering it spent most of it's life outdoors hanging from a railroad caboose, I would say it's in great overall condition. It has 4 lenses, 3 bluish green and 1 red, all are in excellent condition. No noticeable cracks, chips or marks on any of the lenses. As you can see, this lantern has been electrified and plugs into a regular AC outlet and has a corded switch to turn it on and off. Wiring is older and still works great and appears to be in good condition.Marked on the top in raised letters is, "THE ADLAKE NON SWEATING LAMP CHICAGO".
