Recent rural North Carolina estate find. Found hanging in an outbuilding in Western North Carolina near Asheville. Offering a railroad short globe lamp by Adams & Westlake Co. For Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad A. This lamp has an underside date stamp of 1-39, corresponding to first quarter 1939.
Overall very good condition with no significant damage related concerns and looks to be all original. Some light surface corrosion, a couple very small dimples, and the wick adjuster does not turn. May just need to be cleaned or oiled as we did not apply any pressure to make it turn. Looks to be original black paint on the metal base and hood.
The red globe looks to be period and fits perfectly. Rough ground edges as expected as well as some bubbles in the glass. No chips, cracks or stains.
