1889 UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD LANTERN Clear Lantern Globe

Offered is a vintage piece of American Railroad History , a UNION PACIFIC Railroad Lantern with a Clear Extended Base Lantern Globe. The frame is an 1889 Adams & Westlake The Adams, single wire guard, twist off wire bottom and is embossed in large letters UNION PACIFIC , on the shoulder of the lid. The frame is in excellent condition for its age, shows wear with light pitting, stands straight and has no major dents, bends, broken or missing parts; all solder joints are tight.

There is an Inventory or Control Number stamped in the waist area of the lantern 20095. It comes with a correct 1889 A&W twist off fount and brass burner. Fount appears to be in working condition with no visible holes but is not tested. The burner is complete, but the wick adjuster will not turn to properly advance the wick, displays well but it may need to be replaced or repaired if one desires to burn the lantern. The Clear Extended Base Lantern Globe is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks, scratches, or cloudiness and has no markings. As with any lantern globe that saw railroad service, there may be some roughness or chipping on the rims which will not show when the globe is seated in a lantern frame. The Union Pacific Railroad has existed since 1864 and is the last remaining transcontinental railroad still in existence in the United States using it original name.
