W orking in a switching yard, Switchmen carry their lanterns during their entire shift and why they are made shorter and lighter.
Switchmen are not part of a line crew for a particular railroad, but switch railroad cars of multiple railroads and why the lantern does not have any line markings. The lantern is in EXCELLENT clean condition, very strong and stable, no smoke, kerosene or tobacco smell.
