Adlake Reliable Tall Globe Railroad / Interurban / Trolley Lantern / Lamp
This is a scarce, used, Adlake Reliable tall globe railroad/interurban/trolley marker lantern/lamp, was made by Adams & Westlake with the last patent date 1913. Neither the lid nor globe are marked for any railroad or electric line. The frame is in good shape with no holes, dents, or repairs. It has an old thick black paint coat (which appears to have been applied over any rust that may have been on the frame). The original globe retainer assembly, bail, and correct Adlake marked fuel font, and burner, but no wick. The original factory installed frame hanging bracket on the side Pat. Date 11/14/1911, which is commonly associated with use as a rear marker lamp on electric or interurban lines.
5 3/8 red globe has a couple of flea bite little chips on the bottom edge (photo 11), and some minor frosting on one side (photo 12), but no cracks. This lantern would make a nice addition to any electric/interurban, or railroad lantern collection.
