Antique Brass Fixed Globe Railroad Type Lantern Original Cheese Grater Top Rare

In my 50+ years of collecting Very Early Railroad and Fixed Globe Type lanterns I have only seen two of these beautiful lanterns.. This lantern could have been a Railroad or Marine Lantern or just a general purpose one.. Many collectors when they see this lantern think that the top is homemade replacement.. I assure you this is not the case..

The (what I call) Cheese Grater Top is original to this lantern.. The only defect in this Very Large (stands 15 inches tall) lantern is a very shallow insignificant dent in the Grater Top which is shown in a photo.. The lantern weighs a hefty 3&1/2 pounds.. Also I dont believe the oil pot and whale Oil burner are original to the lantern but are vintage Replacements.. The Globe and Plaster are original and are in mint condition..
