This antique oil lamp is a rare find for collectors of railroad memorabilia. The lantern, made by Embury, is an Inspector's Lantern, although it is unsigned, It was manufactured in the United States and is an excellent addition to any collection of vintage lantern The burner plate does not look right to me. The globe does not sit down i n or on the plate.
I think it is a rare Embury lantern. It has a glob of solder on the bottom of the font, and I don't know why.
Inside of the font, you can see the tin plating. The lantern is unsigned but has been well-maintained and still works perfectly. There is a missing wire handle top of the horizontal tube, as shown in the pitures. There is a hanger soldered on at the top of the lantern. There is a drop of red paint on the fill cap, from a prevously repaint job, It would make a great decorative piece for any home or office.
