Wow -- hard not to gush over this railroad lantern! Up for sale is a railroad lantern made by The Adams & Westlake Company. This is a very unique model, and as far as I know, was only made for the B&O RR and their subsidiary, the CH&D. This is a brass top Adlake model with a last pat date form 1913.
The lantern si embossed on the lid for B&O RR (Baltimore & Ohio) and is also embossed LOCO. The frame has been cleaned and has lots of bright metal. The brass top is a good color (not pinkish-orange) and has a couple of minor dents in the very top. The frame is solid and straight. No dents in the frame, no rusted areas, no extra holes.
Please note that somewhere along the way, probably done by a railroader, one bale locking ear has been removed. The fount is correct and is solid. The burner is also correct, but someone along the way put some dents in the edge of the burner as they tried to remove it.The red globe has a great color and is cast Dietz Vulcan. It is not railroad marked.
The globe is not cracked and does not have any cloudy areas. The top and bottom rims are in good shape.
