DIETZ VESTA NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD LANTERN 1929 This lantern is in very good condition. It comes with an early style pear shaped NYC Lines in an oval embossed globe made by Corning and having Cnx and Dietz embossed markings as well. NYC LINES globes were commonly paired with New York Central lanterns as they were under the same umbrella company. The globe is very clean and damage and crack free.
It does have some minor top and bottom edge "flea bites" which are very faint chips in the glass top edge, which is very common and normal. The metal is very nice and clean with a normal grayish color from age.The lid is dated 1929. The frame and lid have a very good shape to it with some minor surface patina, minor surface wear and some minor finish wear. The top of the dome has a patina surface. NEW YORK CENTRAL is fully spelled out on the lid vs.
The bail is well shaped and has a patina finish. The fount and burner are easily assembled and disassembled. The wick moves up and down as expected. There are no holes in the fount. The fount holder has the older style, smooth side vs the raised ribs style found on the newer ones.
