Pullman Company Railroad Brass Conductors Lantern-Adams & Westlake
This is a Pullman Company Conductor's Brass Lantern, made by the Adams & Westlake company. The good thing is they are almost all not visible if just using the lantern for display, but we want to make sure to list them here. The lantern would be an excellent candidate for an easy refurbishing. The brass is very nice, with some wonderful patina! The globe retainer is missing in the chimney. However, the piece of spring steel that held it in place was still present which is in the last photo. A small piece of pink foam board is actually working great to keep the globe in perfect position at this time and is not visible unless you look through the vent holes in the chimney.

But if you have or can find the correct retainer, this will be a quick fix. There are some places on the lantern frame that have been soldered. Not uncommon, but a few repairs have been done in its lifetime. The globe, while being the correct "P Co" etched globe, has a crack on the side and is missing a piece. A replacement globe could be sourced and easily fix this issue.

You will see the crack is on the left/back side of the globe, so if you are displaying it at the front, it is not extremely visible. The fount itself is nice brass, and the burner is excellent. However, when removing the fount with the clips on the base, you will see it has split in several places, so it will not hold kerosene.

A repair was made on one side; the other side would need to be soldered, or the whole fount replaced. Any questions, please let us know.
