Railroad Lantern, Dressel Antique Caboose Light
Railroad Lantern, Dressel Antique Caboose Light. All signal lights are intact on all four sides. Light on one side slides up to reveal oil container which is there along with wick and small glass globe, all are unbroken and intact. Top of light reads: Arlington N. This Lantern is heavy, weighing approximately 15 pounds. The metal handle makes it easy to carry and there is a slim metal piece that is incorporated into the fuel container lid that extends out of lantern when access light is closed. This makes lantern light able to be turned on or off from outside with no need to actually blow out flame. Stands well on floor due to solid 4 stem type base. As far as I know this is original condition. Light shows what I would consider normal wear and tear for a lantern/caboose light from this era (late 1800's early 1900's).
Actual signal lights are made of very thick red and blue glass. These have some small chips on them here and there which, again, I would contribute to normal wear and tear (gravel in and around tracks). No cracks or breaks in ANY glass parts. Beautiful display piece or a must have for any collector.
