The basic form of these lanterns would generally have been kerosene first and later modified for the whistle stop tours. Eisenhower was still using Railroad Observations in his campaign in the 50's. There are three - five inch amber glass lenses and one five inch red glass lens in the lamp.
The lamp on the top says The. Serial #S 12288 is on the connection bar at the bottom and also shown in the photo's! The lantern and lenses are in excellent condition - as shown in the photo's!
I have included a picture of a typical railroad whistle stop campaign car with similar lamps. The right and left brass flag/lantern mounting brackets fit these lanterns. Please do not hesitate to request more photos and/or. Information about this very special lantern.
I included in this description of a whistle stop car was found in an online photo search. Check out the photo's! Photos for condition and quality.
