However, there was a design change made in models after 1914. The handle of anything prior to 1915 will have a curved handle instead of a squared one. Also in the post 1914 models there was a production date stamped into the lantern.
Any Lantern prior to this will have a curved handle and will not be stamped with a production date. These are quite difficult to find.
Excellent Condition for Pre-1914 version. Very Rare, look for yourself and see if there are any others listed with curved handle. In my search this was the only one at the time of the posting. Glass is in excellent condition, clear and not broken, marked "DIETZ FITZALL NY USA". Mirror is clean and not broken, no cracks or chips.
Sits flat, no large dings or dents. Fill hole is not capped, I do not think caps were used in the pre-1914 models, might have used a cork. Back of lantern is marked, DIETZ ACME INSPECTOR LAMP NEW YORK U. Upper air tube is marked. Will be an excellent piece to restore, and will make a great addition to your collection.
