Up for your consideration is a railroad lantern made by The Adams & Westlake Company. This lantern is embossed on the lid for Rock Island System and carries a pat date from 1895.
The metal is dark and uncleaned with a very nice patina. The metal is smooth with some light surface roughness. There are no dents or rusted areas. In the third picture, the lantern appears to lean to the left -- it does not lean, but sits straight. The twist off fount is correct for this model of lantern. It is solid and has no rust or holes. The fount attaches and removes easily.
It is secure when on the frame. The clear cast globe is a match for the lid-- it is cast Rock Island (over) System in a square panel. The globe could use a cleaning as some dirt/soot can be seen. The globe has no cracks or clouded areas. The top and bottom rims of this extended base globe are in good shape.
