Offered is a unique piece of railroad history; a SANTA FE railroad lantern with a Clear Cast CNX globe. The frame is an Adlake 300 Kero and is embossed on the shoulder of the lid AT&SFRY , which stands for Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway , the full corporate name of the Santa Fe. The lantern frame is in excellent condition; retains most of its original tinning, has clean smooth metal, stands straight and has no extra holes drilled, bent, broken or missing parts. There are some minor dents on the top and bottom from use on the railroad (see photos).
It comes with a correct Adlake 300 fount and burner, uses a 5/8 flat wick. The fount and burner are in excellent condition and would still hold fuel and burn if desired. The wick easily moves up and down. The lantern globe is in excellent condition; free of scratches, cloudiness, chips or cracks.
As with any globe that saw railroad service, there is some. Minor roughness on the rims which will not show when the globe is seated in the lantern frame.
The Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad existed from 1870 to 1997 when it merged with Burlington Northern to form Burlington Northern Santa Fe or BNSF.
