Offered is a vintage piece of American Railroad History , a Santa Fe Railroad Lantern with a Clear Cast Santa Fe Cross Logo Lantern Globe. The frame is a rare model for the Santa Fe , a Keystone Casey embossed on shoulder of the lid in large letters SANTA FE. The lantern frame is in very good condition; has a natural patina with surface rust and pitting, stands straight, has no dents, extra holes drilled, bent, broken or missing parts. The frame is solid with no rust through.
There are 2 factory made vent holes in the top of the dome. It comes with the correct twist off Keystone K-C geared fount and brass K-C burner with large adjuster wheel on the bottom. The fount and burner are in excellent condition and should hold fuel and burn if desired. The wick easily moves up and down, but the fount is not tested. The Clear Lantern Globe is cast with the famous Santa Fe Cross Logo.
The lantern globe is in excellent condition, free of scratches, cloudiness or cracks. There is one small chip on the inside of the bottom rim (see photos) and as with any globe that was used in actual railroad service, there may be some minor rim nicks from use that will not show when the globe is seated in the lantern frame.
