Offered is a unique piece of railroad history; a SOUTHERN PACIFIC tall globe railroad lantern with a "Signal Yellow" or sometimes referred to as "Amber" Etched CNX Lantern Globe. The frame is an Adams & Westlake The Adams double wire guard, flat vertical, large insert pot model and is embossed on the shoulder SP in large serif letters. The lantern frame is in excellent condition, overall nice smooth metal, stands straight and has no major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. It comes with a threaded fount and ADLAKE brass burner.
Fount & burner are fully functional; wick easily adjusts up and down and it will hold fuel and burn if desired. The "Signal Yellow" or "Amber" Etched Lantern Globe is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks, scratches or cloudiness. It is etched SPCo in large 5/8 letters along with the CNX Corning Glass logo cast on the opposite side.
As with any lantern globe that saw railroad service, there may be some roughness or chipping on the rims which will not show when the globe is in a lantern frame. The Southern Pacific Railroad existed from 1871 until it was taken over by the Union Pacific in 1997. Be sure to view all photographs closely as they are part of the item description.
