STAR MANUFACTURING RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE HEADLIGHT LAMP FROM SHAY ENGINE. This unit has been in a private collection from a long time railroad collector in southern CA for many years, inside the home, and has been well taken care of. The headlight is about 30" tall, nearly 22 3/4" wide, and about 14 deep. The lens in the front is about 17 1/4 wide approximately. The unit appears to be totally original in excellent condition with no issues to note.
One tiny dimple up top is about all that can be seen. The lens is in mint condition, the door opens and closes without issues, locks perfectly, has the original shade inside, and the sliding door opens and shuts along the side for access to the wick adjuster. There is play in the adjuster as well so it likely functions just fine. One of the largest sizes of headlights made before they went to the back that opened up for access to the inside - this one slides out from the front as shown in the last photograph. This headlight came out of Kalispell, Montana many years ago from a collector and was off of a Shay locomotive. The Star maker is harder to come by and this example is a beauty, a wonderful addition for the locomotive enthusiast or headlight collector!
