One of the bail locking ears was removed, probably by the railroad employee that used the lantern 100 or so years ago. This was a common practice to make it easier to lock and unlock the bail when signaling. It was neatly done and the end that was cut has been soldered back to the frame. It comes with a correct Adlake threaded fount and burner. Fount & burner are fully functional; wick easily adjusts up and down, and would hold fuel and burn if desired.The Clear Cast Lantern Globe is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks, scratches or cloudiness. It is nicely cast with the famous Union Pacific Overland Route Logo and has the CNX Corning Glass logo cast on the opposite side As with any lantern globe that saw railroad service, there may be some roughness or chipping on the rims which will not show when the globe is seated in a lantern frame. The Union Pacific Railroad has existed since 1864 and is the last remaining transcontinental railroad still in existence in the United States using it original name.
