Vintage Antique Dayton Malleable Iron Co. Solid iron Railroad Light-Lantern

This Dayton railroad kerosene handheld lantern is in excellent conditon for over 125 years old. I cleaned the rust that was present; inside and out and applied Fluid Film to prevent rust and corrosion. Unlike most of these the lid on this one screws on nice and smoothly.

There are no holes anywhere. If the purchaser wants to use this the way it was originally intended they may do so.

They made 2 different versions of this. The second version had a bolt attached to the lid. This one is at least a couple of years older and harder to find; especially one in this conditon. On the front of the lantern it reads Dayton Milleable Iron Cos Shop Torch 1885.

The lantern measures 9 3/4 in high. The diameter at the bottom is 4 in. The diameter at the mouth is 1 7/8 in. The diameter at the very top where the wick comes out is 1 in.
