This lamp works great and has its original DC voltage bulb. I rewired the lamp to replace the old aging power cable with a new one. The lamp socket was also old and sketchy also, so I replaced that with a new one. So all the core electrical parts have been replaced. Then I soldered a female 5.5mm/2.1mm DC Voltage Female Barrel Connector on the end of the new power cable and now that can connect to a standard 12VDC power adapter (also included).
I added an in-line on/off switch to the cord and included that as well. Now you can plug the lamp into a standard outlet and it also has an on/off switch. Most of the time you see these old lamps offered for sale with the cut cord and you have to develop your own plug-in solution, but I've done all that work for you!
The metal lamp housing and arm are in good shape; I only gave them a gentle cleaning to remove dust buildup, so they still have their aged, vintage, rustic, industrial look. The red glass lamp globe has no cracks, but it does have a few chips in places, which either adds to the rustic look or is off-putting depending upon your point of view. If you want clean and perfect, this item probably isn't for you unfortunately. You could utilize the boom arm to develop a unique mounting method or just have it sit on a desktop as shown in the pictures to become a functional display piece. Great man cave gift item!
